Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

Mary’s Mountain Cookies has opened its second location in Sioux Falls. The locally owned bakery is at 6004 S. Cliff Ave. in a retail center north of 69th Street. Mary’s offers almost two dozen flavors of “mountain-sized” cookies, including seasonal features, plus hand-scooped ice cream, cookie ice cream sandwiches and decorated cookie cakes. It’s open daily.

Family-owned Dakota Butcher, which has six locations across South Dakota, is coming to Sioux Falls. The business, which offers an extensive selection of meats along with groceries, handmade pizzas and take-home meals, will be moving into multiple spaces at The Bridges at 57th. The hope is to open in mid-June or early July.

Juice Stop has relocated its south-side location to 1404 W. 69th St. The new location features a drive-thru. It’s open daily.

Annie’s Coffee Bar & Roastery has closed in Garretson and is expected to reopen later this month in Brandon. Owner Anne Pedersen is moving the coffee shop into the space at 721 N. Splitrock Blvd. where she has been roasting coffee beans since last year. Annie’s will be open for breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Saturday, with “kid-free” evenings Fridays with special flatbreads, pretzels, beer and wine. The space will feature two meeting rooms in addition to the dining room.

The new Smudge Studios in Tea offers group and private lessons in pottery and is open for private parties. It’s owned by Sioux Falls artist Skyler Stencil and is located at 2001 Industrial St., Unit 4. Smudge Studios will begin by offering beginner classes, eventually expanding to intermediate and advanced classes. Stencil also offers open studio memberships, giving potters 24/7 access.

WoodGrain Brewing Co. will expand with a second location in Sioux Falls. The additional taproom and brewery will be in the building that used to be Obscure Brewing Co. at 5200 E. Grant St. The new facility will allow WoodGrain, which opened downtown in 2015, to begin packaging its beer for sale at other outlets. The east-side taproom also will serve food. The plan is to open in late spring or early summer.

The owners of The Alibi Bar & Grill have opened another bar in The Alibi’s former home. The Bar is at 1004 S. Six Mile Road. The building got a makeover but kept its dive bar feel. The Bar has a full liquor license and serves 420 Pizza Co. pizzas, along with pulled pork sandwiches. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.

Shenanigans Sports Bar & Grill opened its downtown Sioux Falls location in time for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. It’s located on the boardwalk of The Cascade, 701 N. Phillips Ave., in the former Papa Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza space. The bar has a full liquor license, and a menu that’s slightly smaller than the location at 26th and Ellis. It’s open from 11 a.m. to midnight daily.

A sweet shop that has gone viral on social media for its doughnuts mashed with ice cream is coming to Sioux Falls. Yonutz is being franchised by Kim and Matt Cerwick, who also operate a Pizza Ranch location in Mitchell. It will be in the former Zoup location at 2802 W. 41st St. The space also will include Clawz, an arcade with 10 claw machines in a format that allows players to trade up for larger prizes as they win. The plan is to open in May.

The new Conscious Connections blends a workout studio with a “wellness sanctuary.” The business at 434 E. Eighth St. is owned by Chelsea Giedd and Whitney Ullom. It also features a small clothing boutique, along with wellness and spiritual items.

The newest tenant in The Empire Mall food court, Tasty T, features Korean corn dogs, boba tea and macarons.

Watecha Bowl has closed in Sioux Falls and will reopen as Watecha Bowl Grille later this spring in Freeman. Owner Lawrence West said he will continue to do catering in the city and plans to take bookings for his food truck for July, August and September. The business started as a food truck in 2020 and added the restaurant at 2305 W. Madison St. a year later.

Ode to Food and Drinks has relocated to the former Falls Landing Bar & Grill space in the Country Inn & Suites at 200 E. Eighth St. The business closed Feb. 22 at nearby Cherapa Place, where it had been for 10 years, and got to work remodeling its new dining room and moving over kitchen equipment. It reopened March 12. Now, the restaurant also serves brunch on the weekend. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
