Kwik Star opens first Sioux Falls store

Oct. 19, 2023

If the response to the first Kwik Star in South Dakota is any indication, the one opening this week in Sioux Falls is about to be busy.

Kwik Star opened today at 5 a.m. on 57th Street west of Sycamore Avenue.

It follows an opening last month in Brandon that was the first in the metro area.

“We have people driving from 80 miles away — from Sioux City, from Marshall, Minnesota,” district leader Joe Stortz said.

“It’s been really good. We’re really excited by the community. Everyone has been very positive.”

The new Sioux Falls store will be “a twin” of the one in Brandon, except that it will be a two-bay car wash instead of one.

The 9,000-square-foot store is open 24 hours a day and includes pumps that allow 15 to 20 people to fuel up their vehicle at the same time.

Wisconsin-based Kwik Trip, which operates as Kwik Star in Sioux Falls, is known for its vertically integrated business model that includes its own dairy and bakery.

Shoppers will find a selection of grocery items including meat and produce, with many value-priced weekly deals.

Inventory includes a large grab-and-go section, signature fried chicken and a coffee bar.

In the coming weeks, openings in the Sioux Falls area will continue with the first store in Harrisburg in two weeks, followed by the store at 3310 N. Cliff Ave. two weeks after that. Stores at 41st Street and Grand Slam Avenue and at 32nd Street and Ellis Road are scheduled for December.
