New venture offers mobile charcuterie for weddings, parties

Oct. 22, 2024

A new business offers a mobile charcuterie cart for weddings, parties and other gatherings.

Sherri Bostwick of Lennox said she came up with the idea for The Grazing Cart as a year-round addition to the seasonal food truck, Front Porch Concessions, which she operates with her husband, Brandon.

She saw a similar business in another state on social media, and “I just thought, that is a cool idea.”

The cart can be rolled into venues and features compartments for the food items.

“We’ll definitely do the traditional meats and cheese, fresh fruits, crackers, nuts – a variety of things based on what the customer would like,” Bostwick said.

The cart isn’t large enough to provide meal-sized servings, but it will work great for appetizers, she said.

Bostwick will assemble the single-serving plates for each guest.

The Grazing Cart also could be booked for smaller public events, she said.

The charcuterie plates will offer a “fresher … different alternative” to having a food truck at a wedding or other party, she said.

The menu for Front Porch Concessions is typical carnival-type fare with items like the signature Taco in a Tub, deep-fried mashed potatoes with toppings, nachos, corn dogs and cheese curds.

The Bostwicks took over the mobile concessions business in August 2022 as a side gig to their full-time jobs. She’s a full-time family medicine physician with Sanford Health, and he works in construction.

The majority of the Front Porch Concessions schedule is the same from year to year with appearances at annual festivals such as the Renaissance and Sidewalk Arts festivals, small-town summer celebrations and the Sioux Empire Fair.

“It’s been great,” she said. “We had a couple of very busy summers, successful, I would say. It keeps us hopping.”
