South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance

Jonathan Theel

The South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance has appointed Jonathan Theel as executive director. Theel, a retired Coast Guard captain, grew up in Sioux Falls and most recently served as captain of the port in Philadelphia. In the Coast Guard, he filled operational roles in search and rescue, emergency and crisis management, and law enforcement. He also served as the assistant commandant of cadets at the Coast Guard Academy and a military fellow at Rand Corp. Upon returning home to South Dakota, he has been involved with the American Legion, Midwest Honor Flight and Navy League.
