Credit union business services officer: ‘I genuinely love being part of someone’s business journey’

Oct. 21, 2025

This week’s Up-and-Comer is Samantha Jaton, a business services officer at Voyage Federal Credit Union.

Name: Samantha Jaton

Age: 27

Hometown: Madison

What brought you to Sioux Falls?

Right after I graduated high school, my family moved to Sioux Falls, and aside from my college years in Omaha, it’s been home ever since.

What keeps you in Sioux Falls?

I’ve lived in a smaller town, Madison, and a bigger city, Omaha, and Sioux Falls is truly where I feel most at home. It’s a “big small city” and has everything — and everyone — I need!

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

I genuinely love being part of someone’s business journey. Whether I’m working with a seasoned entrepreneur or someone launching their first venture, it’s very rewarding to help them feel confident and supported on their path to success through the services that Voyage has to offer. Since I started my new role, I’ve also really enjoyed getting to know the members on a personal level.

How did you get connected to your industry?

My path into this industry has always been guided by meaningful connections. I studied business finance in college and spent time in both insurance and transportation/equipment finance. I found myself craving a role that kept me close to my family and allowed me to directly serve the community I live in. Thanks to a mutual connection, I discovered Voyage, and it turned out to be the perfect fit!

Describe your workplace in three words.

Dynamic, fun, collaborative.

What is something someone might be surprised to learn about you?

Lots of people know I played golf all throughout my youth and at UNO (University of Nebraska Omaha), but few may know that I actually have two hole-in-ones! It’s rare, and yes, I still like to brag about it!

What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?

I’m all about hands-on involvement, projects where you can see the impact in real time. I especially love working with kids, whether it’s mentoring, volunteering or helping with events. I have spent the last several years as a Junior Achievement classroom volunteer teacher and enjoy teaching students about financial literacy.

What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?

First Watch — a great brunch spot!
