Minnesota company acquires Jerke Construction

July 18, 2024

Longtime Sioux Falls crane service provider Jerke Construction has a new owner.

The company was acquired by Landwehr Construction, based in St. Cloud, Minnesota, which is expanding its crane services and heavy moving/rigging.

Landwehr provides crane services, civil construction, highway heavy, demolition and renewable energy projects.

Calling it a strategic acquisition, the company said in a statement that the deal enhances its ability to serve customers throughout the Midwest and beyond, operating from three locations. It also has a site in Chaska, a western suburb of the Twin Cities.

“This acquisition allows us to continue expanding our operations and meet the evolving needs of our customers,” president Nathan Landwehr said. “Jerke Construction has a long-standing reputation of excellence, integrity and safety — values that align perfectly with our own.”

Under the acquisition agreement, Jerke Construction will operate as a division of Landwehr Construction Inc., retaining its name and legacy while benefiting from the resources and support of a larger, vertically integrated organization, the company said.

“It’s a great opportunity for Jerke and the employees,” said Dave Siebenahler, crane and rigging superintendent. “We can have more growth, and that’s what we need in the Sioux Falls area. I’m putting off retirement to ensure a good and smooth transition and help both companies to continue their great service.”

Jerke Construction was founded by Don Jerke in 1965. Landwehr Construction brings more than 125 years of experience as a fifth-generation, family-owned company founded in 1895.
