Mexican frozen treat business to open on 41st Street

May 9, 2023

A business offering a Mexican frozen treat will open on West 41st Street this summer.

Omar Nunez, who owns a catering business and two restaurants in California, has spent the last three months in Sioux Falls preparing to open Paleta Paradise at 3508 W. 41st St. some time in July. The location is in a retail center between Kiwanis and Louise avenues.

Paletas are made from fresh natural fruits such as mangoes and strawberries or from rich, creamy ingredients, Nunez said.

“Paletas are pops in English. These paletas are unique,” he said. “You’ll have the choice of chocolate-dipped or vanilla-dipped, then you will choose a topping like crushed Oreos, Fruity Pebbles, nuts, sprinkles, crushed Reese’s or another option. Lastly, we top it off with cut-up fruits.”

Paleta Paradise’s top priority will be customer satisfaction, Nunez said.

“We will make sure to deliver quality gourmet items and great customer service,” he said. “We will make sure to have a feedback system to be sure we are on top of any concerns, and we can address a solution.”

Nunez said he travels frequently, but he considers California his home. He has several family members in Sioux Falls. When he came out recently for a one-month visit, Nunez came up with the idea of opening the Paleta Paradise.

Paleta Paradise’s hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
