Sioux Falls-based McKinneyOlson Insurance has joined Minnesota-based North Risk Partners.

The Sioux Falls firm’s roots date back to the 1880s. It’s current ownership dates back to 2008 when McKinney & Allen Inc. and The Olson Group merged. In 2019, McKinneyOlson Insurance acquired The Insurance Connection.

North Risk Partners, based in Plymouth, is one of the largest independent insurance brokers and risk advisory firms in the Midwest. There are more than 400 employees across five states.

North Risk previously had an office in Sioux Falls and has consolidated into the McKinneyOlson office at 7001 S. Lyncrest Place. McKinneyOlson also is maintaining its office in Brandon at 101 S. Splitrock Blvd.

There are 26 McKinneyOlson team members joining North Risk Partners, with owners Amy Olson-Miller and Steve Tripp joining the North Risk equity partnership group. Olson-Miller will serve as the west region president for North Risk.

Tripp, who will join as a vice president of commercial line sales, added, “joining this team will give us extensive resources and tools to serve our clients, which is always our top priority.”

North Risk Partners – McKinneyOlson Insurance clients now have access to North Risk’s capabilities and insurance companies in the areas of commercial insurance, employee benefits and personal insurance. Additionally, clients who are employers now have access to the firm’s value-added services in the areas of human resources, health and safety, and more.
