New kids resale shop starts buying as opening nears

March 6, 2024

The new resale shop Kid to Kid is starting to stock its shelves.

The store on the north side of the Western Mall is being franchised locally by Alexa Goodroad and has wrapped up construction.

“We … are thrilled with how our store turned out,” she said. “We cannot wait to welcome the community to our store.”

Kid to Kid has started buying gently used kids apparel, equipment and toys, with plans to open this spring.

“Kid to Kid is an affordable and sustainable option for parents looking to save on clothing, toys and baby gear,” Goodroad said. “By selling your gently used items to Kid to Kid, you not only earn some cash but also contribute to a more sustainable future.”

Kid to Kid stores “are designed to be upscale and highly organized,” she added. “Items are carefully selected and then sorted by size, style and color-coordinated for an easy shopping experience.”

When selling used merchandise, shoppers can choose to receive cash on the spot or store credit with a 20 percent boost in value.

“At Kid to Kid, we purchase top-quality items that your kids have outgrown, ranging from clothing, toys and shoes to baby equipment, books, sports gear and more,” Goodroad said.

“For clothing, we prefer sell-ready and freshly laundered items, neatly laid flat in a bin for an efficient sorting and buying process. Our buying process is hassle-free, with no appointment needed, and we buy items for all seasons throughout the year.”

To start building up inventory, Kid to Kid has started buying from area families and will set a grand-opening date once the inventory is about 60 percent stocked. While the target to open is May, it could be sooner if enough merchandise is brought into the store, Goodroad said.

The business is hiring and plans to cross-train employees. Click here to learn more.

Stop in to learn more about selling to the store from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Vendors must bring a license, and car seats and maternity items aren’t accepted.
