Locally owned ice cream shop sets opening date

A locally owned ice cream shop has set its opening date.
Sweet Cheeks, 3609 W. Avera Drive, is having its grand opening Sunday.
Owner Tasia Guericke will offer a self-serve bar with 50 topping options. In addition to ice cream, Sweet Cheeks will serve gelato, frozen yogurt and sorbet. Flavors, which are listed on its website, will rotate.
Customers will pay based on the weight of their creations.
The store also will have a freezer with novelty treats such as frozen Snickers, push pops and Drumsticks.
Guericke also will sell 12 flavor of cotton candy that will be made in-house every morning.
Sweet Cheeks will open at 11 a.m. daily. It will close at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and a half-hour later Friday and Saturday.
The shop is in a retail center near the northwest corner of 69th Street and Louise Avenue that also includes Starbucks and Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop.
