Lewis rewards baby for his ‘First Stop’

Lewis Drug is giving a year’s supply of diapers and a care package to a baby who was born Saturday night in the parking lot of the East 10th Street store and has been named Lewis.

“We are excited and honored to be part of this joyful event, said Nikki Griffin, corporate vice president. “We’re proud Baby Lewis made us his ‘First Stop.’ ”

Parents Matt and Carmyn were on their way to Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center from Garretson and realized they wouldn’t make it in time. They pulled into the Lewis parking lot,which is about a mile from the hospital, and the baby was born.

Carmyn and Lewis are healthy and doing well, according to the store’s Facebook post.
