Whether attending for the first time or returning for another round, gamers and fans alike are counting down the days until Saturday, Oct. 11. South Dakota’s free, all-ages esports event, SoDak Circuit, is back for its second season, and this year promises even more ways to play, watch and get involved.
Hosted by SDN Communications and its 17 member-owner companies, SoDak Circuit once again will take over the Sioux Falls Convention Center. From experienced competitors to casual players and curious spectators, everyone is invited to enjoy a full day of fun, competition and community.
What’s new in Season 2
Last year’s SoDak Circuit brought together players and fans from across the region to compete, connect and celebrate gaming culture. This year, the event is leveling up with returning favorites and exciting new additions.
Tournament play will feature Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Fortnite, Rocket League and Valorant. New this season, Madden NFL 25 joins the lineup, giving players another chance to show their skills. The Circuit also is introducing an RPG Room, where attendees can dive into guided Dungeons & Dragons sessions designed for both beginners and experienced adventurers.
For the first time, SoDak Circuit is partnering with North Western Graphics to host a cosplay competition, giving participants a platform to showcase their creativity, craftsmanship and character portrayals for prizes and recognition.
Not every game is about competition. Throughout the venue, free-play stations will feature a variety of titles, including opportunities to try the brand-new Nintendo Switch 2. These stations are perfect for casual matches, friendly challenges and discovering new games.
A day for players and fans
SoDak Circuit isn’t just for competitors. Spectators are encouraged to join the excitement and watch tournament matches live on large screens, with dedicated seating throughout the Convention Center. The event includes multiple age divisions, making it a truly all-ages experience that welcomes seasoned gamers and newcomers alike.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will feature junior brackets for those 12 and younger, while other titles will be open to those 13 and older. Whether competing in a bracket, racing in the custom racing simulator, exploring free-play stations or enjoying the atmosphere, SoDak Circuit offers something for everyone.
More than just gaming
Beyond the games, SoDak Circuit celebrates connectivity and community. For SDN Communications and its 17 member companies, the event highlights the state’s advanced fiber-optic network, with more than 50,000 miles of high-speed infrastructure reaching over 90 percent of South Dakota.
The event also serves as an introduction to technology and telecommunications careers, inspiring future talent by showcasing the real-world applications of gaming, teamwork and innovation. Colleges and schools with esports teams will be in attendance to share unique opportunities in gaming.
Make check-in smoother
Player profiles are now live. Completing an individual, family or team profile helps streamline check-in on game day and provides organizers with valuable participation insights. Tournament spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so early arrival is encouraged.
Come play, watch and experience South Dakota’s only free, all-ages, communitywide esports tournament.
