Just in time for Friday: Your guide to Lenten dining

March 12, 2021

This paid piece is sponsored by Vanguard Hospitality.

Maybe you’re skipping the meat this Friday – or you happen to love seafood – either way, there are some new selections that shouldn’t be missed.

Take a look at what we discovered at the Vanguard Hospitality family of restaurants.

Freshly featured

Grille 26 just began its new early spring features, and the menu is all meat-free.

From a grilled salmon burger to a signature Grille 26 pizza, vegetarian-style, there’s something for the whole family.

And then, you can’t go wrong with the classic walleye on a Friday either – served with skillet fingerling potatoes, diced tomatoes, dill buttered carrots, spinach and citrus beurre blanc.

Return to Minervas

Just in case you somehow haven’t heard: The Minervas salad bar is back and filled with more locally sourced choices than ever – including delicious vegetarian options. Every Friday also brings a seafood-based soup, so stop in for lunch or dinner and indulge.

There’s also a new shrimp cocktail and seasonal chef feature awaiting you at Minervas.

The Scallops & Romanesco dish includes pan-seared Maine scallops, grilled baby bok choy, sauteed oyster mushrooms and a red pepper Romanesco sauce.

Plus, every Friday brings an additional fresh fish chef feature that continues through Saturday.

Appetizer round or meal option?

Here’s a fun way to craft a Friday dinner – take a look at the Morrie’s Steakhouse appetizer menu.

It’s filled with meatless – and exceptional – options, from the Oysters Rockefeller to the bronzed walleye pieces and coconut shrimp.

Add a Burrata heirloom tomato salad or bowl of French onion soup and you’ll definitely be loving Lent.

And, of course, the star lineup of seafood at Morrie’s always delivers, so stop in for your favorite salmon or sea bass any day of the week.

Oh, and there’s also no meat in the carrot cake.

The seafood

Nearly all Vanguard Hospitality fresh seafood comes from The Fish Guys and Fortune Fish & Gourmet in Minneapolis, premier Midwest suppliers of quality fresh seafood.

Still delivering

Not quite ready to dine out yet? All Vanguard restaurants continue to offer home delivery through Food Dudes and always accommodate to-go orders in-house.
