Does your artwork belong downtown? Apply for Art Box gallery

March 12, 2021

South Dakota artists of all ages and skill levels could find their original artwork as part of the Art Box: Outdoor Gallery in downtown Sioux Falls.

Artists should submit their original painting, drawing, digital art, illustration or photography for consideration by a jury through the Sioux Falls Arts Council by April 30.

Submissions can be made digitally or by using a printed brochure. Applications and brochures can be picked up at the Washington Pavilion or any library. They also are available by request in Arabic, Amharic, Nepali, Somali, Spanish and Swahili.

Those selected will be notified by May 15 and paid up to $600 for their work.

Art boxes have been popular in other cities and have been used in the Whittier neighborhood. Here are some examples of how they can be designed.

The artists’ pieces will be printed on vinyl and wrapped on one of 26 utility boxes located around downtown.
