J. Crew Factory is planning to open at The Empire Mall.

The national retailer carries “preppy-inspired” apparel and accessories for men, women and children.

It’s planning to start construction in July in a large vacant space near Old Navy in the JCPenney wing that most recently was Go Calendars, Toys & Games. That retailer moved to a smaller space across the hall.

J. Crew Factory has almost 300 locations nationwide. It’s part of J. Crew Group Inc.

An opening date in Sioux Falls hasn’t been set yet, but the hope is the store will be ready for the holiday shopping season.
