Hy-Vee to open Dollar Fresh in Tea

Hy-Vee is bringing its Dollar Fresh concept to Tea.
The Iowa grocer has submitted plans to the city for a store at 725 E. First St., which is across from Tea’s City Hall and Fareway.
Dollar Fresh is a like a combination small grocery store and dollar store, offering a range of grocery items, a bakery, a dollar section, a “Wall of Value” and ready-to-eat meals.
“I think competition is good and just helps our public out,” city administrator Dan Zulkosky said. “For us, the least amount of trips someone has to make to Sioux Falls the better, so this helps them patronize our city a little bit more.”
Hy-Vee also confirmed the location but said a timeline hasn’t been set.
City officials have been told the hope is to start construction as soon as the weather allows, Zulkosky said.
Hy-Vee also is moving forward on a Dollar Fresh in Harrisburg, where the city has issued a building permit for the store at 201 E. Willow St.
That location is expected to open this year.
