Home decor, gift store featuring multiple makers opens on east end of downtown

Aug. 18, 2023

A renovated building near downtown’s proposed Riverline District has a new shopping option opening today.

Farmhouse Market opens at 121 S. Franklin Ave. in a 2,500-square-foot space inside a building owned and renovated by law partners Rhonda Lockwood and Tressa Zahrbock Kool.

It’s a second location for owners Kristy and Phil Vander Ziel, who also have a store in Edgerton, Minnesota, and have sold their merchandise at I-29 Antiques and Stacey’s Vintage-Art-Boutique near Tea.

“We love it here already,” Kristy Vander Ziel said. “I think it turned out great.”

Within the space, shoppers will find a mix of home decor, furniture, vintage pieces, jewelry, bath and body products, accessories and other gift items.

Farmhouse Market includes items from other makers: At Home With Stella, Barn Home Vintage, Brick House Creations, Boards n’ Boys and Mitzi’s Pretties.

The Vander Ziels started the business out of their garage in 2015 and expanded to a storefront in 2018. It specializes in vintage and new home decor, along with hand-poured candles and its own paint line, Farmhouse Market Furniture Paint.

“Basically, our slogan is ‘gathered good,'” she said. “Vintage and new.”

The merchandise mix will rotate often and is starting with a wide selection of fall decor.

Rainy Day Coffee will have its truck there for the grand opening from 3 to 7 p.m. today.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
