Holiday cheer, 3 ways, at downtown cocktail bars ready for the season

Nov. 30, 2023

This paid piece is sponsored by The Carpenter Bar Group.

Toast the end of 2023 with new signature drinks and seasonal style at three of downtown’s popular cocktail bars.

Carpenter Bar, Highball and The Treasury are decked out for the final weeks of the year and ready to help you celebrate.

Carpenter Bar

Shakes the Elf returns to Phillips Avenue and is bringing two dozen new cocktails with him.

For the sixth straight year, the Carpenter Bar will offer 24 days of cocktails beginning Dec. 1, with a different beverage featured daily. Follow on social media to see the latest offerings.

“Every day is a different drink with a fun and fresh new flavor, so there’s a new reason to stop in each day,” said Michael Mohr of The Carpenter Bar Group.

Stop by the Carpenter for a break from your holiday shopping, or before or after a show at the State Theatre, Orpheum or Washington Pavilion as you’re within an easy walk anywhere downtown. It will be open Dec. 24, with limited hours.

Highball

Highball is decked out for the holiday and ready to put you in the spirit — with some new actual spirits too.

“We have a fun drink menu that just started, with six to eight new cocktails and plenty of holiday music and hot drinks through the season,” Mohr said.

“Hot apple cider is making its way back for another year – that was a No. 1 seller last year – but Highball did a fantastic job putting together new drinks, so I’m excited to see those, plus we’ll be continuing to offer our popular cheeseballs.”

 The Treasury

The Treasury launched a food menu earlier this month filled with “a little more fall flavor,” Mohr said. “The new mussels are going over really, really well. Brussels sprouts are back and better than ever. The fried mushrooms are my favorite, and our signature items like The Treasury spinach dip and fried cauliflower aren’t going anywhere.”

The cocktail team will be debuting holiday beverages, including a “Kit and Jerry,” which is a fun play on a Tom and Jerry.

“One of our team members really stepped it up on that one, and we’ll have new cocktails dropping for the holiday season,” Mohr said.

“I like to take the holidays one at a time and live in the moment. And now that Falls Park is lit for Winter Wonderland, The Treasury sees a lot of traffic flowing from the park, and our team does a nice job curating a tastefully elegant holiday look inside.”

The Treasury also will be open Dec. 31 with a special New Year’s Eve featured menu.

“We’ll run that Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and it will include some favorites as well as some fun, exciting ideas,” Mohr said. “And we’ll springboard right into the Downtown Burger Battle.”

Sip local

From now through Dec. 23, buy a $100 gift card to any of The Carpenter Bar Group’s downtown locations and receive a $20 bonus card.

“We’re always excited to offer that,” Mohr said. “We have three great locations full of great people who really do a good job and want to be part of the community and are happy and excited to ring in another year.”
