Hallmark is coming back to Sioux Falls.

The national gift store has leased more than 4,500 square feet at Empire Place, the retail center in front of The Empire Mall.

It will be next to the new Flyboy Donuts, which is opening soon.

“I’m thrilled,” said Raquel Blount, vice president of commercial real estate at Lloyd Cos., who represents Empire Place.

“We really like that we’re bringing back traditional shop space. It’s hard to find those that are going into new markets and growing.”

Hallmark used to have multiple locations in Sioux Falls but closed its last one in the Western Mall in 2020 when the local franchisee retired.

Now, there’s a new franchisee for the market who has a number of locations nationwide.

The plan is to be open by fall in time for the holiday season, Blount said.
