Giving Back for October
Nov. 1, 2024
Giving Back recognizes businesses and organizations that are helping our communities. Here’s a look at who gave back for October.
Sioux Valley Energy
Seven organizations in Minnehaha County will share $11,600 in funding from Sioux Valley Energy’s Operation Round Up program. The recipients are American Heart Association, Brandon Valley Optimist Club, Call to Freedom, Crooks Veterans Park, Girls Scouts Dakota Horizons, Health Connect of South Dakota and Junior Achievement of South Dakota. Grants for the quarter also were given to other organizations throughout the energy co-operative’s service area. The next deadline to apply for funding is Nov. 20.

Levo Credit Union
Levo Credit Union is awarding $500 each to eight area teachers nominated by parents, students or community members for having made a huge impact on kids. Levo started the Adopt-A-Classroom Program in 2014. Since then, the credit union has awarded more than $34,000 in classroom awards to area teachers. Anyone can make a nomination for teachers in Levo’s service area by Dec. 31 by going to levo.org/adopt-a-classroom. Winners can use the money for classroom expenses.
