Giving Back for January

Jan. 31, 2024

Giving Back recognizes businesses and organizations that are helping our communities. Here’s a look at who gave back for January.

CorTrust Bank

Because of CorTrust Bank’s priority to give back, a charitable giving initiative was created in early 2023. The program is called CorTrust Cares Jeans Day and offers a centralized way for each CorTrust market to uplift worthwhile causes in the 37 communities the bank serves in South Dakota and Minnesota. In exchange for a financial gift each month, employees can wear jeans on Fridays. Since its inception, the CorTrust Cares Jeans Day program has donated $20,328. These funds have helped more than 45 organizations.

First Dakota National Bank

Through sales of the “Savoring South Dakota” cookbook, First Dakota National Bank has raised and donated more than $10,000 to the South Dakota Community Foundation Stronger Communities Fund. The 190-page hardcover cookbook features family recipes and stories spotlighting South Dakota. The Stronger Communities Fund financially supports charitable and nonprofit causes statewide. Kidtopia

Kidtopia offered raffles during the holiday season and also asked customers if they would like to round up to the next dollar to benefit Sioux Falls Area CASA. The toy store raised $1,136.86 and rounded up to a donation of $1,150. The Court Appointed Special Advocate program seeks to promote and protect the best interests of abused and neglected children through the advocacy efforts of trained community volunteers.
