This week’s Up-and-Comer is Jordin Edwards, wealth management services relationship manager at First Bank & Trust.

Name: Jordin Edwards

Age: 39

Hometown: Chamberlain

What brought you to Sioux Falls?

College at Augustana — and then life kept giving me really good reasons to stay!

What keeps you in Sioux Falls?

My family, first. But beyond that, the relationships here. Sioux Falls has a way of making things feel genuinely connected, both personally and professionally.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

Helping people feel less overwhelmed about their financial future. Most people aren’t looking to become experts — they just want to know they’re doing OK. If I can give them that clarity, even a little, it’s a win.

I also really enjoy working with businesses to strengthen their benefit offerings. When you can help an employer build something thoughtful and effective, it creates a ripple effect that reaches a lot of people.

How did you get connected to your industry?

I took a bit of a nontraditional path to get here. I spent nearly 15 years in marketing and advertising, and along the way, I found myself drawn to the financial side of the work. I’ve always had an interest in it, so when the opportunity at the bank came up, they took a chance on me, and it clicked.

Describe your workplace in three words.

Supportive, collaborative, always evolving — sorry, that’s four!

What is something someone might be surprised to learn about you?

I grew up working in our family’s business. There’s a decent chance I served you a slice of apple pie with cinnamon ice cream at Al’s Oasis at some point.

What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?

Sioux Falls has a strong network of nonprofits doing meaningful work behind the scenes. Organizations like EmBe, Junior Achievement and Helpline Center are great examples of that. I’ve had the chance to be involved in small ways with those, but more than anything, I just really value being part of a community that shows up for people the way Sioux Falls does.

What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?

I so badly want to say something other than Trader Joe’s, but let’s be real. It’s Trader Joe’s.
