What brought you to Sioux Falls?

A close friend and connected member of the community encouraged me to consider Sioux Falls when I was searching for an affordable home. Around this time, I was working remotely and looking for a new career path that would connect me more closely with a local area and business community. I saw that opportunity here!

What keeps you in Sioux Falls?

Sioux Falls feels like the perfect sweet spot between the small town I grew up in and the larger cities I’ve lived in and explored. The strong sense of community at this size feels unmatched. People are genuinely willing to step up, collaborate and work together for the greater good.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

It is hard to narrow it down to just one favorite aspect of my job. If I had to choose, one of the most meaningful responsibilities has been helping plan, celebrate and document L. G. Everist’s 150 years in business. It continues to give me a deeper appreciation for the company and the people behind it as we roll out initiatives throughout the year. I truly value working for a reputable company — something I recognized before joining. LGE has locations near where I grew up, and I have always heard positive things about the organization. In an industry centered around rock, sand and gravel, which may not always be glamorous, it speaks volumes to have such a strong reputation. Now having firsthand perspective, it is rewarding to see the commitment, standards and people behind that long-standing reputation.

How did you get connected to your industry?

Through networking in the Young Professionals Network, I made a good friend and business connection who suggested L. G. Everist had an opening that aligned well with my interests and skills. I have always been open to learning new things and was excited to dive into the mining/construction aggregates industry.

Describe your workplace in three words.

Safe, reliable, productive.

What is something someone might be surprised to learn about you?

Something that might surprise people is that my career path hasn’t been linear. I earned a degree in biology, then transitioned from college into working as a full-time nanny. That eventually evolved into managing a private trading card collection for the family I was employed with. After that, I moved into the recycling industry — an experience I truly valued and still advocate for today. Connections then led me to L. G. Everist. Each step has shaped my perspective, and while the journey has been unconventional, it ultimately led me to where I am now and work I’m passionate about.

What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?

I’m still figuring that out! I enjoy volunteering my time, participating in service clubs and staying engaged as an informed local voter so I can contribute to meaningful community impact. I’m also grateful for the opportunity to support volunteer efforts in the communities where LGE operates.

What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?

As many have stated before me, Trader Joe’s would be an amazing addition to Sioux Falls!

If you had $1 million to start a business, what kind of business would it be?

If I had $1 million to start a business, I’d create a cozy event space that doubles as a wine shop. I’d envision it as a thoughtfully designed space that hosts small events, tastings and family/friend gatherings while also offering a curated wine selection people could explore.
