First women’s ‘Kilts for Kids’ fundraising team aims to break record

Oct. 7, 2022

They’re “dressed to kilt” — and out to set a fundraising record.

For the first time, women are participating in the annual “Kilts for Kids” fundraiser benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Dakota.

The team of eight women hopes to raise a record-setting $50,000 in one week beginning Saturday.

The “Dressed to Kilt” team is comprised of Courtney Collen, Regan Dennis, Addie Graham-Kramer, Kristin Hoefert-Redlinger, Maddie Peschong, Andrea Pins, Karla Santi and Harriet Yocum.

“We are excited to be among the first women Kilters. We are a competitive group, so we are attempting to break the one-week fundraising record,” Hoefert-Redlinger said. “In an effort to give the broader community a chance to join us, we started organizing a #WeekForGood. This will be a fun week benefiting a great cause. There is still time to join the movement. Our local RMHC serves over 1,000 families a year. These are families that are going through unimaginable hardship, and they need our help.”

All or a portion of the proceeds from the following events will go to the nonprofit. Festivities include:

  • Saturday: Kickoff yoga sculpt class at 8:30 a.m. at Ignite Infrared Fitness.
  • Sunday: Squealer’s Smoke Shack in Tea hosts a bingo event with $20 bingo cards and 100 percent of profits benefiting the fundraiser.
  • Monday: Face Foundrie and Nautical Bowls at Empire Place will donate a portion of sales from 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday: Zooks Coffee Bar in Tea will donate a portion of its sales.

Other participating area businesses include IV Hydration Spa, Autumn Elizabeth Studio, Northwestern Mutual, Blend Interactive, Eye on You Designs, The Event Company, Sanford Health, the Yokum Family, Silencer Central and White Space Studios.

Event will be posted here as they are finalized.
