Eilers Furs acquires customer base in Iowa

Oct. 3, 2025

Sioux Falls-based Eilers Furs has acquired the customer base of a longstanding furrier based in Iowa.

Eilers took over the customer list for Dubuque-based Rhomberg Furs, a fifth-generation furrier established in 1907 which once had storefronts in Rockford, Ill. and Davenport, Iowa. Owner Jim Rhomberg retired and closed the final store in Dubuque this summer.

Eilers in Sioux Falls was established in 1927. It’s now owned by Brandy Ann Fiala, who became the fourth owner in its history in early 2023 after training under two furriers, Leonard and Gail Iwinski of Eilers Furs, for 11 months.

She relocated the business to  2425 S. Shirley Ave. last year.

In addition to its retail stores, Rhomberg’s serviced spring pick-ups with fall drop-offs for off-season cold-vaulted storage, biennial cleanings, and repairs or remodels throughout northern Iowa, Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Davenport, and Rockford, Ill.

Eilers now will service those territories, in addition to the six communities it has added for annual pick-up and drop-off services in Dakota Dunes, Aberdeen, Rapid City, Rochester, Mankato, Minneapolis, Fargo, Bismarck, and Marquette, MI.

“Owning a natural fur is a privilege,” Fiala said. “Regular service is vital to maintain garments, ensuring they last a lifetime.”

Younger generations “are widely embracing natural fur and leather as they recognize them as renewable resources and appreciate vintage fashion,” she said.

“Modern mature women are gravitating towards elegance, warmth, and comfort, appreciating quality versus quantity. With many pieces being unisex, we are seeing furs and leathers being sought after by both men and women alike.”

The business will continue to operate under the Eiler’s name.
