Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

TH Grey, a women’s clothing boutique at 330 S. Phillips Ave., has changed its name to Veza, which means “connection” in Serbian.

Fair Market is opening a second location at 523 N. Kiwanis Ave. The new site for the reduced-price grocery store will have a slightly different model than the original, carrying about 60 staple items such as hamburger, milk, beans and rice along with some salvage items. It’s expected to open in late November or early December.

Denny’s at 4001 E. 10th St. has closed. The location in the Flying J Travel Center at 5201 N. Granite Lane remains open.

Sunbelt Business Advisors, a business broker, has opened a Sioux Falls office at 101 S. Phillips Ave. It helps buyers and sellers, and entrepreneurs interested in mergers, acquisitions and franchise opportunities.

Nestle Toll House Cafe by Chip in The Empire Mall is now Great American Cookies. The owners are the same, but the Nestle café group was sold to Fat Brands, leading to the rebranding. The local bakery has been allowed to keep selling ice cream and coffee.

A new business at 5303 E. 41st St. is “kind of a craft show all year-round,” said Meghan Anderson who owns Mulberry Market with Jaime Meyer. The 24 vendors in the shop offer everything from handmade to boutique, baby blankets to Christmas decor, door hangers to bath and body items and lots of jewelry. It’s open Tuesday through Saturday.

Little Caesars has opened at 411 W. 85th St. in a retail center near Walmart. It’s the fourth location in Sioux Falls for franchisee Derek Kothe.

The Repurpose Project Center, which closed its store on Cliff Avenue earlier this year, is working to reopen in the old West Sioux Hardware location at 2300 W. Madison St. Owner Shane Sutherland is working to clear out the contents of the former West Sioux Furniture and plans to announce an opening date next year. In addition to selling his own repurposed items and antiques, he will have merchandise from other crafters and vendors.

Eye-Site has opened its fourth Sioux Falls-area location. The office is on the south side of Dawley Farm Village at 1700 S. Highline Ave., near Casey’s General Store and Caribou Coffee. The clinic offers comprehensive vision and eye health exams for patients of all ages and has new state-of-the-art equipment. It also offers an optical gallery with a wide selection of frames, including eyeware brands exclusive to it in the region. It’s open on weekdays.

South Dakota Biotech has moved from 2329 N. Career Ave. to a suite in the First Financial Center at 100 S. Phillips Ave.

Several new businesses have started selling freeze-dried treats. Burkett’s Freeze Dried Treats has a store-in-a-store at Watecha Bowl, 2305 W. Madison St. Packages of candy are available at other retailers, and the owners also do vendor shows and take custom orders. Harrisburg Treats takes custom orders through its Facebook page. It offers freeze-dried candy, ice cream, fruit and meals for camping and emergency stockpiles. Bergie’s Freeze Dried has entered a partnership with Stensland Family Farms, creating Stensland’s Freeze Dried by Bergie’s. It will sell frozen ice cream and candy through Stensland’s three retail stores – hopefully before the end of the year — and possibly through other retailers that carry Stensland products.

DGR Engineering has moved into its new building at 1300 S. Highline Ave. at Dawley Farm Village. The location is more than twice as big as the previous office at 57th and Southeastern.

SD CEO East Women’s Business Center has moved into a shared office with Sioux Metro Growth Alliance and the South Dakota Development Corporation. They’re at 196 E. Sixth St., Suite 200.

Struggling while shopping to find clothes for her three sons, Erica Feige Anderson has started Untamed Threads, an online shop. Her inventory includes 13 brands for boys with apparel, outerwear, hats and socks, with an eye toward both the style and the functionality.

Katie McNamara has started Overboard Charcuterie. She makes custom-order charcuterie boards and also provides them at Full Circle Book Co-op, where her kitchen is based. She caters events and also creates boards for En Place Catering.

605 Running Co. has moved into its new downtown space. It’s part of the renovated Johnson Building at 225 E. 11th St. and is located on the south side of the building next to the parking lot. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

2nd Avenue Salon Suites has opened in the Johnson Building at 11th Street and Second Avenue. The suites are rented by hairstylists and others who provide specialized beauty services such as waxing, facials and eyelash extensions.

Action Lawn and Tree Service has become a division of Weller Brothers Landscaping. Action has been providing lawn, tree and pond care and pest control service since 2016. Weller is in its 21st year of business and recently expanded to Rochester, Minnesota.

Decker Sales, a new business that will focus on the repair of heavy machinery, is building a shop in the Canton Industrial Park.

Barks & Rec, which opened in January in Brandon, has closed. The business offered dog boarding, day care services and a self-wash area. “I still believe this is a much needed service in this area, but with labor shortages and other challenges, I am not able to provide the exceptional service you and your dog expect and deserve,” owner Suzie Meyer said in a post on social media.
