Downtown restaurant to close for 2 weeks
Dec. 20, 2022
While diners will have to miss one of their favorite downtown coffee shops for a couple weeks, they’ll be rewarded with new menu items when it reopens.
Josiah’s Coffeehouse, Cafe & Bakery, 104 W. 12th St., will be closed Jan. 3-17 while the kitchen is remodeled.
“The reason we have to be closed is we’re taking everything out of the kitchen,” said Tina Beal, the restaurant’s marketing director. “We’re renovating and resetting for a better flow and more space for cooking and baking.”
It’s the second phase of a project that started with a complete “rearranging” of the dining area of the breakfast and lunch spot almost a year ago. The restaurant was closed for almost a month that time.
With the new kitchen will come new menu items. Co-owner Tom Pepper is in the process of testing a few dishes, Beal said.
“We will have a revised and improved menu coming out when we reopen,” she said, reassuring diners that “the classics and favorites will stay.”
Josiah’s will celebrate the reopening Jan. 18 with a week of specials and giveaways, she said.
While the restaurant will be closed Christmas Day, it will be open New Year’s Day from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will have regular hours Jan. 2 — the final day before the remodeling starts — of 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
