Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

Qdoba is heading south for its fourth location in Sioux Falls. The fast-casual Mexican restaurant will open in a retail center at 81st Street and Minnesota Avenue. It’s expected to open sometime this summer.

Locally owned Backspin Golf Simulators has opened at 513 N. Splitrock Blvd. in Brandon with three bays, including one that also has special offerings for kids. The business offers memberships and open play.

Fig & Fir Resale has moved into a retail space in the Jones421 Building at 421 N. Phillips Ave. Chantale and Charles Connelly began the business in 2023 doing vendor shows. They offer vintage household items and furnishings.

The former Allure Health building at 7000 S. Lyncrest Place is the new home for the rebranded Kalon Aesthetics & Surgery and other wellness-focused businesses. The business, which is part of Vance Thompson Vision, was founded in 2019 as Kalon Medical Spa. It will begin seeing patients March 9 in the new location. Other tenants are Spread the Health, Well Balanced Physical Therapy and HealthSpan Medical.

Two new businesses offer an immersive experience for everyone from architects to families remodeling a home. Alex Drey is the franchise owner of Walk Your Plans, which opened this week at 2320 Enterprise Ave. in Tea. Kyle Cosand is the franchise owner of Walk Thru Plans, which will open April 2 at 4006 N. Hainje Ave. Both businesses project two-dimensional architectural plans onto the floor and walls of their open spaces, giving homeowners and contractors a true feel for what they’re building or remodeling and allowing them to make design changes before construction begins.

The First National Bank in Sioux Falls recently broke ground for its first branch in Chamberlain, which will open this summer. The bank has had an agricultural banker in the Chamberlain market for several years and installed an ATM at Al’s Oasis in Oacoma in 2024.

Junk in the Trunk is moving from Sioux Falls to Tea. Renee Johnson and her husband, Chris, who died in December, started the business that sells new, used and repurposed furniture and home decor in 2012. The final day at 5303 W. 41st St. will be March 22. Johnson plans to reopen April 3 at 46930 Cody Trail. The store, which also sells merchandise from a few vendors, will be open Friday through Monday.

The Great Plains General Office of New York Life Insurance Co. has moved into its new 8,000-square-foot office at 6101 E. Silver Maple Circle.
