Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

Apple Tree Children’s Centers has closed its locations at 3309 E. 26th St., 700 N. Sycamore Ave. and 4101 W. Valhalla Blvd. Apple Tree West at 6400 W. 43rd St. remains open under new ownership.

Nebraska-based Hausmann Construction has opened a Sioux Falls office. The 25 staff members here are among the company’s 400-member team that manages construction regionally in education, health care, commercial and housing markets. The office is in former Central Payments space in The Plaza at Ninth Street and Phillips Avenue.

Midco has moved its corporate office from northwest Sioux Falls to downtown. The staff is in the Lumber Exchange building at 10th and Reid streets. The building also will become home later this month to Builder Finance Inc. The company is leaving its 15-desk office in southwest Sioux Falls for downtown.

The artist-driven clothing shop 1st Gen HQ has moved into the former Interiors Etc. space in the Jones421 Building at 421 N. Phillips Ave. Owner James Landon is subleasing some of the space to other businesses: The Green Penny, which sells vintage goods, and Lunr Skateboards. Interiors Etc. now operates as a home-based interior design studio.

Also in the Jones421 Building, The Deku Tree has moved from its space near the northernmost entrance into a shared space with 605 Florista on the south side of the building.

Ziggi’s Coffee has opened at 4410 E. 57th St., just east of the new Kwik Star. The new building offers drive-thru and walk-up service for coffee drinks, other beverages and breakfast items. It’s open daily.

Ambush Apparel and South Dakota Threads have moved to 719 N. Ninth Ave. in Brandon. The businesses owned by Garrett Callahan and Josh Mueller had been in separate locations. Ambush Apparel specializes in offering online stores for sports teams and clubs, and South Dakota Threads is a retail shop featuring South Dakota-themed items and locally branded apparel and accessories.

Starbucks has opened its first location in the Sioux Falls area outside city limits. The new coffee shop is in a retail center on the northwest corner of the Tea exit for Interstate 29. It’s open daily.

Botski’s Bar & Grill is under new ownership. Bobby Kramer and Theresa Flannery Kramer bought the longtime business at 1914 S. Sycamore Ave. from Mike Klinedinst, who took it over in 2018 after founder Jon “Jono” Bot died. The sports bar opens at 3 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. on the weekend when it serves breakfast. Closing time depends on how busy it is.

Lewis Drug has opened its ninth location in Sioux Falls. The 25,000-square-foot store is at 5830 E. Madison St., attached to a Sanford Health clinic that opened earlier in February. Hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The grand-opening celebration will be March 16-17 and include a 20 percent discount storewide, plus the chance to win a 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid and other giveaways.

Dillard’s has opened in The Empire Mall. The department store is in the former Younkers space on the west side of the mall. The grand opening is Wednesday, and the first 300 customers will receive a swag bag with a surprise gift card. Doors will open for that after the ribbon-cutting, which starts at 10:30 a.m. Store hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The first B&G Milkyway locations have opened for the season. Already open are the two shops on 69th Street, the one on East 41st Street and in Harrisburg. West 41st Street opens Wednesday, followed by Tea on March 11. Other dates are not set, but all are expected to be open by April.

A franchised location for Real Deals is coming to Sioux Falls. The store specializes in lower-priced merchandise with inventory ranging from home decor to clothing. It will be at 2001 W. 41st St. in a retail center. Owner Janessa Wilson hopes to open in early spring.

A new jazz club with a bar and restaurant will fill the former Parlour Ice Cream House space at Washington Square in downtown Sioux Falls. Riccardo and Marybeth Tarabelsi are opening Trio Jazz Club in between their other ventures in the Main Avenue building: Brix Wine Bar and Maribella Ristorante. The plan is to open this summer.

A new salon specializing in services for men has opened at Dawley Farm Village. Gents Grooming is now seeing clients from its new space in the retail center that includes Subway and Verizon Wireless. Owner Rob Davis previously worked in a salon suite. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The salon at 1027 S. Highline Place is closed Mondays.
