Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

The Hy-Vee store on South Minnesota Avenue is converting its Market Grille restaurant to a Wahlburgers. It will be the third Hy-Vee in the city to feature the burger-driven concept by executive chef Paul Wahlberg and celebrity brothers Mark and Donnie Wahlberg. No timeline has been set for the opening.

The Orion Pub has opened at 127 W. 10th St., aiming to serve as a neighborhood bar that serves old-school choices for beer like Hamm’s and Grain Belt on tap. It also has offerings from local breweries. Later this summer, it will begin serving pizza from Sunny’s Pizzeria.

Weller Brothers Landscape Professionals is growing into the Des Moines market. The Sioux Falls business plans to expand to Iowa’s capital city this fall. Weller Brothers, which provides residential and commercial landscape design and maintenance services, also operates in Rochester, Minnesota.

Flourish Wellness & Birth Co. marked its first year in business at the end of May, and now the nurse-midwife owners are planning for a new location to accommodate its  growing services. Flourish will move from 520 N. Sycamore Ave. to a space at 2908 E. 26th St. once renovation work is completed in late summer or early fall.

The new Babe Hair Solutions at 2111 W. 49th St. is meant to be a one-stop hair-solution shop. It sells wigs and hair extensions, and offers hair salon services, eyelash extensions, brow services and microblading. It also offers a full retail store to help maintain, style or help with hair loss.

Marmen Energy is building a 15,000-square-foot addition to its wind tower manufacturing plant in Brandon. It will bring the size of the plant to 260,000 square feet and lead to the addition of 50 team members to the staff of 250, mostly in welding roles.

Weeks away from opening, the Parker’s Bistro expansion has gained its own identity: Myrtle’s. The restaurant has been renovating the building to the north to add seating for diners and a bar, which will be called Myrtle’s. It’s expected to open sometime after the Fourth of July.

The Cattitude Cafe, which will feature a room filled with cats that customers can interact with for a fee, will open July 15. The cafe downtown at 11th and Second will offer coffee, lattes, beer, wine and a light food menu focused on breakfast and lunch. The cats will come from the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society and will be available for adoption, except for Darla, the resident cat.

Dan’s Drugstore, an independent pharmacy at 5028 S. Cliff Ave. that opened eight years ago, is closed while owner Dan Peterson faces his own health issues. Hy-Vee has purchased his patient files “to ensure continuity of care while I take time to hopefully heal,” he said. “My recovery and health will determine the time to reopen.”

Pad Thai restaurant is now Ninja Ramen & Thai. Co-owner Terry Teng has a new partner from New York, and they decided to add a second kitchen in the restaurant at 2700 W. 41st St. that offers ramen and other Japanese dishes.

The new food truck Southern Perfection BBQ features a spin on barbecue recipes passed through generations. Chris and Joanna Glover grew up in Georgia enjoying and learning about their families’ barbecuing techniques. Among Southern Perfection’s menu items are Texas-style brisket, pulled pork, spare ribs and smoked chicken, along with homemade side dishes and desserts.

A new full-service hair salon, Candylicious Allure, is coming to a retail center on 41st Street east of Sycamore Avenue. Owner Dulce Chacon plans “to focus on education and providing services to give the minority-hair types more opportunities for styling services in town.” She’s hoping to open this summer.

The Dive has closed its original location in The Gaslight Lounge, two months after opening a restaurant in Park Ridge Galleria.
