Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

Construction work has started on the ninth location of B&G Milkyway in the Sioux Falls area. The franchise-owned ice cream shop that also serves food will be on the northeast corner of 69th and Cliff. The plan is to open by May.

The pop-up Art Moms Holiday Boutique is in a new location this year at 3101 W. 41st St. Remaining hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. It features products from more than 40 makers.

Schoppert’s Piano Gallery, which opened in 2010, will close in early 2023. Schmitt Music, which will become the dealership for the piano manufacturers Schoppert’s carries, is assisting with the closing sale. That’s expected to run until mid-January. The store is in a building at 1020 E. 41st St., which is being sold to the city and will be torn down.

Colorado-based Ziggi’s Coffee is expanding to Sioux Falls. Michael and Liz Minor are franchising the concept in the market and looking for locations, according to a statement from Ziggi’s.

EFS Recovery, formerly Escape Float Spa, has a new home inside GreatLIFE Harrisburg. Services, which are open to the public and fitness center members, include floating, cryotherapy, cold plunge tanks, sauna and red light therapy.

La Plaza Fiesta Mexican Restaurant has opened at 521 W. 85th St. It seats 140 diners and is open daily at 11 a.m. The owners’ other restaurants in the area include Brookings and Madelia, Minnesota.

Chipotle Mexican Grill’s second location in Sioux Falls has opened. The restaurant at 5300 E. Arrowhead Parkway features the new “Chipotlane, which is a drive-thru lane designated for digital orders. Hours are 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Paramount Cocktails & Food has reopened after shutting down in early 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The cocktail lounge is part of Minervas and serves a menu of small plates. It opens at 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Watecha Bowl is closing its restaurant at 2305 W. Madison St. at the end of the month and returning to its food truck roots. Owners Lawrence and Sophie West plan to start serving their signature Indian tacos and more from the food truck in early January. Watecha Bowl started as a food truck in March 2020 and expanded to a restaurant about a year later.

Aldi has opened its fourth grocery store in Sioux Falls. The newest addition is at 4201 W. 61st Circle N., near the northwest Walmart. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Neighborhood Market and Sahara Grill & Cuisine are closed temporarily after the businesses at 4508 E. 12th St. were vandalized. They’re expected to reopen eventually at a west-side location that owner Hayder Hayyawi had been planning as a second market.

Starbucks has opened its newest location at 5101 N. Annika Ave., near the northwest Walmart. Hours are 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.

Sioux Falls-based Woods, Fuller, Shultz & Smith PC has expanded to Minnesota with a law office in Worthington.

In response to current and anticipated customer demand, Midco is investing $17 million in upgrading its business network. These upgrades increase network capacity while optimizing responsiveness for all connections, the company said. Optical equipment upgrades in combination with routing technology enables private business connections up to 100 Gig while leveraging Midco’s low latency multi-Terabit interstate fiber network. The investment complements Midco’s previously announced $500 million Fiber Forward investment happening through 2030.
