Caribou Coffee has opened its latest location on the west side of Sioux Falls.

It’s located at 2501 W. 12th St.

The Caribou takes the place of the final remaining dine-in Pizza Hut in Sioux Falls, which closed in 2020 when the chain shuttered nearly all of its remaining dine-in restaurants nationwide.

Pizza Hut is returning to West 12th Street with a carryout and delivery model in a building shared with Scooter’s Coffee.

“West 12th Street is a powerhouse in terms of traffic counts,” according to Ryan Tysdal of Van Buskirk Cos., who brokered both deals. “National tenants are attracted to these high-traffic corridors, so I expect to see future projects like this on West 12th.”

The building was renovated for Caribou’s “chalet” model, which is a dine-in coffee house that includes a drive-thru.

“What a great reimagining of an older building,” Tysdal said. “Our goal was to make this property not look like an old Pizza Hut, and I think our team definitely accomplished that.”

It’s Caribou’s sixth coffee shop in Sioux Falls, plus a location inside The Empire Mall.

For opening weekend, Caribous will donate $1 from every transaction at the new store to the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History.
