Business focused on stretching opens with 3 familiar names in ownership

The “three Nates” and their wives have gone into business together.

Nate and Jill Malloy, Nate and Lyndsey Tibbetts and Nate and Annette White are the new franchisees of StretchLab Sioux Falls, which opened recently in a retail center at 2213 W. 57th St. next to Year Round Brown.

Nibbetts, a Sioux Falls native and NBA coach, experienced StretchLab as a customer and proposed the idea of bringing it to Sioux Falls to his friend Nate White, a former Sanford Health executive.

Nate Malloy was brought into the mix because of his experience with franchising as the former CEO of Profile by Sanford.

“He was familiar with the brand and interested in the concept for his own golf game, so the idea was quickly put into action,” Jill Malloy said.

StretchLab is a membership-based one-on-one assisted stretching studio. Sessions can be individual or in small groups.

“Everyone has a customized stretch routine that targets tightness and imbalances in their body,” Malloy said. “An assisted stretch gives you a much deeper stretch than you could get on your own. Some clients come in with pain or tightness, and others come in to experience a greater range of motion, flexibility and sport performance.”

A regular stretching routine can help improve sport performance, increase range of motion and flexibility, reduce muscle and joint pain, improve posture and reduce stress, she said, “which makes it a benefit for anyone at any age. We serve young athletes that are looking to improve their flexibility and performance to individuals that just want to get out of bed and move without pain.”

The location is staffed by “flexologists,” and the team will grow as membership does, Malloy said. The Flexologist Training Program is the first nationally accredited program from ICE — the Institute for Credentialing Excellence, she said. It includes 60 to 70 hours of theory and hands-on training.

“Our flexologists have background knowledge of the mechanics of the body — they come from an array of fields, including exercise science, kinesiology, massage therapy, personal training, etc.,” Malloy said.

StretchLab will hold a grand opening May 31. Malloy said expanding to other locations in the city is “definitely something on our minds as we continue to grow the brand in Sioux Falls.”

StretchLab has more than 300 sites  across North America and more than 800 licensed locations globally.
