Soup, salad and a sandwich.

It’s a classic trio for anyone visiting the Minervas Market Bar in downtown Sioux Falls.

But now, there’s a new, local addition when it comes time for your sandwich.

“We wanted to reach out to our local vendors in Sioux Falls instead of going to the bigger corporations. We wanted something more local that meant something to the community, and we chose Bagel Boy to be one of those partnerships,” said Jordan Klein, garde manger chef for Minervas, who oversees the Market Bar.

For Brenda Dinsmore, who has owned Bagel Boy with her husband, Mike, for more than 20 years, supplying bagels for Minervas Market Bar sandwiches was a natural fit.

“We love working with local businesses, especially ones as established as Minervas,” she said. “We’re providing them dozens of bagels every month, and the partnership on our end is going wonderful.”

Klein stops by Bagel Boy multiple times weekly to pick up fresh-baked plain, sun-dried tomato and everything bagels.

“It’s all made from scratch and baked throughout the day in the store. Nothing is ever frozen,” Dinsmore said. “It’s just the best recipe with the best, freshest ingredients.”

Customers at Minervas agree, Klein said.

“These are very fresh, and it gives us another option for sandwiches in addition to bread,” he said. “You can do a full or a half-sandwich. Customers are pretty impressed we’re able to partner with Bagel Boy.”

Another tip: Use the bagel half for dipping in Minervas’ famous tomato zucchini soup.

“The relationship with Bagel Boy is one more example of how we’re strengthening our local relationships so everyone wins,” said Tim Meagher, Vanguard Hospitality’s chief operating officer. “Our local partner has a reliable source for the food they’re producing; our restaurant enjoys a fresh, local enhancement on the Market Bar; and ultimately, the customer wins with more great tasting, fresh options for their meal.”
