Art Moms settles in for holiday season at new location
Dec. 12, 2025
This holiday season, Grinch items leave the shelves at Art Moms as soon as makers deliver the products, co-founder Pennie Ogden said.

Whether it’s Grinch Christmas trees or women’s skirts with elasticized waistbands, items related to the Dr. Seuss character who hated Christmas until his heart grew three sizes larger are in demand.
“The Grinch has been around for a long time, but anything Grinch that comes in just sells,” Ogden said. “The Grinch is really hot this year.”

This is the 15th year that Ogden and her daughter, Chantal Olson, have operated the Art Moms (and friends) Holiday Boutique. It started as a pop-up holiday shop with multiple makers and now operates in a brick-and-mortar building. It continues for two reasons, Olson said: “Mainly the customers and probably because both Chantal and I really enjoy what we do.”

This year, Art Moms is located at 3101 W. 41st St. in the same Park Place mall but a different location. It moved after Plato’s Closet wanted to expand into Art Moms’ former site. Art Moms moved to the east.
“It’s like the best spot ever, the best spot ever had,” Olson said, describing the space as open and roomy.

Art Moms also expanded its number of makers with five new entrepreneurs. The business has a waiting list of interested makers and expanded this year to offer a wider variety of merchandise.
Newcomers include Juniper Apothecary and its health products, salves and tinctures; the Grinch tree maker; homemade stocking caps with removable balls; and home bakers offering pastries and holiday treats. Items made by so-called junkers are unique because no two are the same, Olson said.

Hours have been extended before Christmas, especially with the snowstorms that have dampened customer traffic the past few Saturdays. Regular hours at Art Moms are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Now, it’s also open from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Sunday.
