Restaurant Roundup: Late-night Keg Chicken delivery, $1 pizza slices, holiday treats

Craving Keg Chicken, but the restaurant just closed? It’s now offering delivery through DoorDash after hours on Friday and Saturday nights. Orders can be placed from 8 p.m. to midnight at thekegchicken.net.

Big Poppa’s Pizza is celebrating its first anniversary Friday with specials: Get $1 slices of hand-tossed pizza from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a limit of two per customer, half-price deep-dish pizzas all day and $5 off any hand-tossed pizza or calzone. Discounts will apply to online preorders placed after midnight.

Here’s a fun way to put together an individualized Christmas treat tray without having to do any of the baking. Sunny Side Up Cafe, a vendor at the winter version of the Falls Park Farmers Market will have a wide variety of holiday treats to build a tray as small or as large as you’d like. The market is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mosaic Arts & Events, 500 N. Main Ave. The food truck, which is catering through winter, has a new website, sunnysideupcafesd.com, for pre-ordering take-and-bake meals and treats for pickup at the farmers market.

Chef April Cakes, Confections & Celebrations’ annual holiday pop-up shop is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 3201 E. 10th St. There will be holiday treat boxes, cookie kits, hot cocoa bombs, turtles, bon bons and lefse. Shoppers also will find foods to make entertaining easier: homemade soups, take-and-bake meals, appetizers.

Both locations of Jack Rose Social Club have a new lunch menu that’s served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. “Enjoy the elevated dishes you love—now in perfectly sized lunch portions,” the restaurant posted on social media. The full menu also is available.


Winter specials have arrived at Blarney Stone Pub. Among the offerings: Creamy Peppercorn Pork Ribeye, Jalapeno Pepper Pasta and Old Fashioned Homemade Chili.

Totally Rad Eats at Fernson Downtown is hosting its first dinner event. Nutcracker Dinner and Drinks on Monday will feature four courses prepared by chefs Beau Vondra and Kamisha Jones will be paired with cocktails crafted by Paul Squyer with beer spirits made by Fernson Brewing Co. Lucky’s on Louise is offering holiday feast bundles that serve up about 10 people. Orders must be placed by noon Sunday at events@luckysgroup.com. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

La Playita Mexican Seafood has created several family specials that will be offered until the end of the month. Among the offerings, get a 10-person shrimp boil for 100 with 5 pounds of headless shrimp, 10 chunks of corn and 10 potatoes. There’s also an Enchiladas Suizas package with 20 enchiladas, rice and beans for $120.

Remedy Brewing Co. has a new weekday lunch special for the rest of the month. Get a classic burger and fries for $11 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Lucky Ladz in Crooks is hosting a chili cook-off Sunday. All-you-can-eat tasting starts at 1 p.m. and costs $5. If you have a chili to enter, let the bar know by Friday.
La Luna Cafe has introduced its winter drink menu. Sweater Weather is eggnog with spiced chai, and Cabin Fireplace is a dark chocolate and orange dream latte. There’s also brown sugar cardamom and sugar cookie lattes.

Zooks Coffee Bar in Tea is featuring a special hot chocolate and shaken espresso for the holidays.

Fit Revolution Nutrition has brought back a few fan-favorite drinks with holiday-themed names. They’ll be available through Christmas.

Changes in hours, service
- Because it’s Christmas Eve, the Wednesday Community Dinner at Sioux Falls Food Co+op will be served earlier in the day. The $5 meal of ham with mac-and-cheese and peas will be served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The full hot bar will not be available that day, but there will be whole and half roasted chickens, along with the usual grab-and-go items. Store hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- New hours are here for 9999 Boba: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
- Perch Neighborhood Kitchen has new hours of 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Breakfast is served all day, with the lunch menu beginning at 11 a.m.
- Nekter Juice Bar has new hours for winter: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
- Here’s a good one to know heading into the holiday school break: Hook & Ladder Kitchen & Bar has expanded its free meals for kids from Monday night to all day Monday. Kids 12 and younger can choose from mac-and-cheese, a one-topping personal pizza, grilled cheese or two-piece chicken tenders.
