Longtime downtown gift shop to close
Aug. 29, 2025
Longtime downtown retailer Home Porch Gifts is closing.
Saturday likely will be the last day for the business in the Carpenter Building at 217 S. Phillips Ave.
Co-owner Lori Linder estimates that the business has been downtown for about 25 years. She and her husband, Bryan, owned the store for eight years before selling it in 2020. They recently became the owners again as the store began its going-out-of-business sale.
“She just couldn’t make ends meet,” Linder said of the former owner.
All merchandise is 75 percent off, and fixtures also are for sale.
“We have some kitchen products, Christmas, a lot of greeting cards,” Linder said of the remaining inventory.
There also are some gift items and South Dakota-themed merchandise remaining.
The hope is to transition the line of chocolate and candy that Home Porch carried to another downtown retailer.
The store will be open until at least 6 p.m. today, and hours Saturday will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The space at the Carpenter has generated interest, building co-owner Anne Haber said. Nothing has been finalized yet, so it could still be available, she said.
