Portion of Phillips Avenue to go pedestrian-only for First Friday

May 2, 2025

A portion of Philips Avenue will be reserved for pedestrians only this First Friday, which also coincides with the semiannual Art & Wine Walk.

In partnership with AARP South Dakota, Phillips Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic between Ninth and 10th streets from 5 to 8 p.m., which is the same time as the Art & Wine Walk.

In that area of Phillips Avenue, visitors will find live music, local artists and other activities.

For Art & Wine Walk, participants can tour 38 downtown locations and enjoy local art while sampling a variety of wines. A $30 punch card provides access to 10 wine tastings, and individual glasses are available for $5 each.

“Events like the Art & Wine Walk showcase the creativity and energy of our downtown,” said Jeb Cooper, marketing manager at Downtown Sioux Falls Inc. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to support local artists, engage with the community and experience the buzz of the downtown area.”
