Restaurant Roundup: Cinco de Mayo specials, treats for teachers, cookie with gold

May 1, 2025

Finding a Cinco de May party this weekend won’t be hard. Here are just a couple:

The new Dahlia Kitchen + Bar is celebrating its first Cinco de Mayo with a three-day party that starts Saturday. There’s a featured menu with elote guacamole bites, chicken tinga flautas, Texas cornbread bites, mini gringo tacos, tempura shrimp mole tostadas and Mexican pizza, with prices ranging from $6 to $10. Get $5 house and frozen margaritas, tequila shots, Mexican beers and other drinks. Catch DJs from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Monday.

Longtime Chevys Fresh Mex is having a four-day party that starts Friday. Specials include two-for-$6 tacos, $5 beers and margaritas, $3 tequila shots and $2 Jell-O shots. Too Drunk To Fish will play from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

From Saturday through May 9, Josiah’s Coffeehouse, Cafe & Bakery is thanking teachers with one free coffee drink or pastry. And the May drinks specials are here.

With the warmer weather, ice cream has returned to Fiero Pizza.

There’s also another recent dessert addition at Fiero that’s listed on the menu above: the Deluxe Cookie, a chocolate chip cookie with sea salt crystals from England and edible 24K gold leaf.

With the reopening of the patio at Blarney Stone Pub, the dog-friendly menu for treating four-legged friends is back.

Sioux Falls Food Tours is hosting a Star Wars-themed pub crawl from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday to celebrate May the Force Day. Five bars – Tommy Jacks, Top Hat, Glacial Lakes Distillery, Club David and Blarney Stone Pub — will serve themed drinks. There’s also a mocktail option. At the final stop – Blarney Stone – enjoy light appetizers. Tickets are $75, or $60 for mocktails, and can be purchased here. All proceeds go to SiouxperCon. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.

Coffea Roasterie is making it easier to order batches of baked goods. Customers can place orders online at least 48 hours in advance of pickup at the Louise Avenue cafe. Orders come in increments of a half-dozen up to two dozen.

Crisp & Green has several new additions to the menu: Zen BBQ and Golden Hour Curry grain bowls, Watermelon Feta Zest Salad, Crispy Medi Wrap and Strawberry Jalapeno Fresca.

The May special at Gateway Bar & Grill is Jack’s BBQ Chicken Bacon Ranch Melt. Get it with a side for $14.

Here’s the new three-course menu for May at Chef Lance’s on Phillips. The full menu is available too.

Botski’s Bar & Grill has new specials from 4 p.m. to close. On Mondays, buy any burger and get a second one for half-price. The burgers come with your choice of side. The same deal applies to chicken sandwiches on Tuesdays. On Wednesday, get $1 traditional wings, available in increments of six. Thursdays are still the dark meat chicken special. Get three pieces for $9.

Fan-favorite chicken and waffles are back after five years at KFC. For a limited time, get a $7 box with  three tenders and a waffle or two pieces of chicken and waffle. For $25, there’s a box with four pieces of chicken or six tenders, 12 nuggets, four waffles and two fries. Also new: Strawberry & Creme Pie Poppers.

Slim Chickens has new limited-time Tender Bites that come in six- or 10-piece sizes. They’re 100 percent, all-natural chicken chunks that are buttermilk-marinated and cooked to order – just like the full-size tenders.

Through May 10, Big Poppa’s Pizza is donating 10 percent of all sales to the owner’s niece, who underwent surgery today for a tethered spinal cord.

Toppers Pizza has a new No Mo’ FOMO menu. Pick two or more options, including salads, garlic knots, mac-and-cheese, dips, frozen custard or brownies, starting at $6 each or wings, Topperstix and pizza starting at $8.

Marco’s Pizza has new $5 Pepperoni Bread for a limited time.

The summer menu at Scooter’s Coffee includes returning classics and new Red Bull Infusion drinks. Try a s’mores-flavored latte or cold brew, s’mores cookies, Oreo Blender and now extra-large blenders. In addition, the Peach Bliss Quencher has earned a permanent spot on the menu.

Check out the spring drink menu at The Gruff Plates + Pours in Brandon. Offerings include Hair of the Goat, Lil’ Devil Sunrise Margarita, Milagro Paloma, Sex in the Gruff, Pineberry Cobbler, Peach Mango Sangria, Fleur de Gruff, Claw & Order and Lavender Lemontini.
