Restaurant Roundup: Cattitude’s plea, Crawford’s throwback, pickle flavors, featured pizzas

The Cattitude Cafe has started a crowdfunding drive to keep it in business beyond April, according to a post on social media. “We’re facing unexpected expenses that threaten our future,” the coffee shop said, asking for help to raise $25,000. Cattitude announced plans last month to stop serving food and create a second room to hang out with cats. The business has found homes for more than 400 cats for the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society since it opened in July 2023. Find details on the campaign here.

Crawford’s Bar & Grill is celebrating its 14th anniversary through April 17 with featured menu items, gift card giveaways and a 14 percent discount on retail wine. The downtown restaurant has re-created its Friends & Family menu from opening week. That’s the Bruschetta & Shrimp Flatbread in the featured photo at the top of the article. The menu also is Crawford’s contribution to Downtown Restaurant Week, which is actually a two-week event, from April 3-17. Pho Quynh Vietnamese Cuisine has added dinner specials that will change every week. Here’s the kickoff menu for April.

In addition to introducing its full menu, Casa del Rey, which is under new ownership, has new daily specials, a new happy hour menu and a margarita of the month. Monday is Munchies & Martinis with $4 off chimichangas and $2 off martinis. That’s followed by Tap & Taco Tuesdays with half-price pints and $2 tacos. Margarita Wednesdays haven’t changed – house margaritas are still half-price. Burrito Grande Thursday is $4 off burritos, and Fiesta Fridays feature half-price 32-ounce margaritas, $3 single well drinks, $4 draft beers and $30 pre-selected tequila flights. Happy hour runs from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and includes $2 off margaritas and beer, $10 for Nachos Supreme or a quesadilla and $2 off the large queso, guacamole and street corn dip. The margarita for April is Sunkissed Sip, which is peach and raspberry flavored.

On April Fools’ Day, Popeyes introduced its not-a-joke pickle menu. For a limited time, there’s a Pickle Glaze Sandwich featuring the usual chicken coated in a “zesty, pickle-flavored glaze,” along with glazed bone-in and boneless wings. Fried pickles come with a ranch dipping sauce, and there’s Pickle Lemonade, which is infused with real pickle juice.

Lake Time Steakhouse & Bait Shop Bar on Lake Vermillion has new food and drink features for April that are served Monday through Thursday. It’s open those days from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The featured menu item for April at Maribella Ristorante is lamb gnocchi – red wine-braised lamb ragu tossed with gnocchi and topped with ricotta and fresh mint.

R Wine Bar & Kitchen is featuring teriyaki salmon this month. The 7-ounce filet is served with rice noodles, broccoli, peppers and onions.

The lucy of the month at Crooked Pint Ale House is the Crooked Popper. The patty is stuffed with cream cheese, chopped bacon, American cheese and jalapenos. It’s topped with jalapenos, Cholula mayo, Monterey Jack cheese and haystack onions, served on an egg bun with waffle fries.

IHOP’s pancake of the month is New York Cheesecake. The pancakes are filled with cheesecake bites and topped with glazed strawberries and whipped topping.

The April Avalanche flavor at B&G Milkyway is Coffee Toffee with Heath candy bar bits, coffee, caramel and vanilla ice cream.

Featured cupcake flavors for April at Oh My Cupcakes are Bonanza, Bunny Hop, Strawberry Shortcake and Randy’s Chocolate Razz.

CNC Food Factory has a new doughnut flavor: Tropical Bliss with flavors of pineapple, mango and coconut. Returning flavors are Carrot Cake with cream cheese icing and Carnival Crunch with caramel, popcorn and peanuts. They’re baked and are available in regular and gluten-free versions.

Big Sioux Burger has food and drink specials whenever the Minnesota Twins are playing. Get a Chili Burger for $14, Chili Dog for $6 or Totchos for $10.

Boss’ Pizza & Chicken in Sioux Falls is offering half-price pizzas all month from Monday through Thursday. If you order online, use the code SPRING50.

The April pizza of the month at The Scapegoat is The Aloha Sizzle. The 12-inch hand-tossed pizza features housemade marinara, ham, chorizo, pineapple, smoked gouda and mozzarella.

The featured pizza for the month at Invictus Pizza Kitchen is The Basic “Bee.” Your choice of crust is topped with organic marinara, a mozzarella cheese blend, Parmesan, beef, black olives, mushrooms and pineapple, topped with a hot honey drizzle.

The new pizza of the month at Monks Ale House is The Meat-mare for $16. The crust is topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, soppressata, pepperoni, sausage, bacon and chicken with a sprinkle of Parmesan.

Shenanigans Sports Bar & Grill’s pizza of the month is The Hot Hog. It starts with housemade spicy marinara topped with Italian sausage and pepperoni with a drizzle of hot honey. Get a $15 medium or $19 large at both locations. Shenanigans also has a new daily special. Get a $10 medium single-topping pizza for $10 and $2 pints from 6 p.m. to close at both locations.

Token hunts are back at Sunny’s Pizzeria. The annual tradition started in 2020 during the pandemic. This year, there are two hunts each day in April. Photo clues are posted on social media, typically in the morning and late afternoon. Find the hidden token, and win a free medium pizza.

Godfather’s Pizza has a new pizza: the Fiery Italian. It features Godfather’s signature sauce and is topped with sausage, cup and char pepperoni, sliced hot cherry peppers and mozzarella.

Big Poppa’s Pizza has started making dessert pizzas. The 16-inch crust is topped with streusel and a choice of icing, chocolate or caramel drizzle. For an additional charge, add apple, cherry, Snickers or Butterfinger topping.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers has several new limited-time menu items that feature Mike’s Hot Honey. There are bone-in wings, boneless chicken bites, a crispy chicken sandwich and pepperoni pizza.

Oreo Cookies & Cream has earned a permanent spot on the menu at Nothing Bundt Cakes. It has been an annual pop-up flavor.

Glacial Lakes Distillery & Brewhouse is having a Dragon Ball-themed celebration Saturday in memory of creator Akira Toriyama on what would have been his 69th birthday. He died last year. There will be “themed cocktails worthy of the Saiyan elite, ‘Dragon Ball Z’ playing on our TVs and more surprises straight from Capsule Corp.”

Changes in hours, service

  • Parker’s Bistro and Myrtle’s Fur Vault & Bar have added Monday hours. The bar is open from 4 p.m. to midnight, and the kitchen is open from 4:30 to 9 p.m.
  • The Cookie Jar Eatery is no longer open on Saturdays. New hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
  • Bread & Circus Sandwich Kitchen has new hours: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
  • Fat Daddy’s Smokehouse in The Gaslight Lounge is closed until April 9.
  • The new full-service version of Pizza Cheeks at 26th and Minnesota has added online ordering at mypizzacheeks.com. Once you’re at the restaurant, you can order beer, THC and nonalcoholic drinks by the can or wine by the bottle to go.
