Restaurant Roundup: Casa del Rey’s full menu, discount deals

March 27, 2025

Casa del Rey has introduced its full menu. The Tex-Mexican restaurant reopened in late November under new ownership with a limited menu to get the staff up to speed. Now, Seafood Enchiladas, the Reyrito and Brooks Burrito are back, along with about a half-dozen other popular entrees the original Casa del Rey featured, said Kibbi McCormick, who owns the restaurant with other family members. “We added in a few new things we thought people might enjoy and like.” That includes street tacos, chicken flautas and a tostada taco salad. Check out the full menu here. Years ago, Casa del Rey featured a popular Sunday buffet, and that’s the next offering the new owners hope to tackle once the team is comfortable with the full menu. The restaurant also is using DoorDash now for delivery.

The Thomas Jefferson is a half-pound Cajun-seasoned patty topped with jalapeno bacon and melted blue cheese crumbles. Shenanigans also is keeping the kitchen at both locations open later every day. New hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The bars are open until 2 a.m.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers at The Empire Mall won the chain’s competition to see which restaurant could sell the most margaritas. The contest featured a weekly bracket-style elimination against the top 16 locations for margarita sales. The Sioux Falls restaurant ended up defeating the location at Pier Park in Panama City Beach, Florida, earlier this month. As an incentive, the local site offered a free appetizer with every margarita purchase and entered those customers into a drawing. First prize was a 75-inch TV, second was catering for up 10 people, and third was dinner for four. “It was super-cool to see the community come together,” local managing partner Becky Meier said. “We had regulars coming in trying to help us.” The restaurant sold 820 margaritas over the course of the competition. The corporate office sent money to Meier to take the team out and celebrate.

A Red Robin regular, Tim Nelson (center), won the drawing for the TV.
