Trio Jazz Club to host first ticketed event after ‘great’ start
July 26, 2024
Sioux Falls appears to have been ready for a new live-music venue.
Weeks after Trio Jazz Club opened downtown, the response has been “great,” said Riccardo Tarabelsi, who co-owns the business with his wife, Marybeth.
“It’s been really well-received. We keep hearing the same comment over and over: ‘Thank you. Sioux Falls has been ready for this, and we’ve been looking for a place like this.’ All positive.”
Shows have been “full pretty much every night, even Tuesday and Wednesday, and on weekends, we’re turning people away,” Tarabelsi said.
Trio Jazz Club is in between the Tarabelsis’ other ventures in Washington Square at 350 S. Main Ave.: Brix Wine Bar and Maribella Ristorante. They also own R Wine Bar & Kitchen on the east side of downtown.
Next weekend will bring the club’s first ticketed event, The Claudettes.
“The lead guy is Johnny Iguana, and he’s the co-composer of the score of the hit TV show “The Bear,” which a lot of people have watched on Hulu,” Tarabelsi said. “He’s a well-awarded and acclaimed singer-songwriter.”
The band will play shows from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and 9 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

In the meantime, Twin Cities jazz band the Ryan Picone Quartet will be performing tonight, and the local JAS Mini Big Band will be on stage Saturday. Those are not ticketed events but include a $5 cover charge like the rest of the live music.
Trio Jazz Club also offers a menu of appetizers, pizzas and entrees, along with a full bar menu and patio seating. There’s no cover charge to eat there before the music starts.
