Starbucks has opened in the lobby of Sanford USD Medical Center.

While it’s a “relatively small setup, it functions the same as any stand-alone Starbucks,” said Paul Hegg, president and CEO of Hegg Cos., which is the licensee for the location.

“The emphasis and focus is on grab-and-go because we feel that is where the majority of the demand will come from. However, we also wanted to create space where patrons could come and relax and enjoy a cup of coffee.”

There’s a possibility the coffee shop could offer on-site delivery in the future, “knowing the great impact it could have for the campus,” Hegg said.

While hiring “has been going great,” the operators are “always looking for phenomenal team members,” he said.

Hours are 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
