6 ways JJ’s is adding even more to eat, drink this fall

From to-go meals to beverages at your favorite fall sporting events, you’ll find even more from JJ’s Wine, Spirits & Cigars across Sioux Falls in the month ahead.
“We’re coming off a busy summer with servicing Levitt at the Falls and special events at JJ’s itself, but we’re not slowing down for fall,” owner Tom Slattery said. “We’re actually stepping up and offering more ways to connect with JJ’s inside and outside our flagship location.”
Here’s a preview of what to expect from JJ’s this fall.
To-go meals
Call it a throwback to 2020. The Boozy Bakery is back to offering to-go meals, which proved popular during the pandemic.
“Jean is rolling out three to four different pre-made, fully heat-and-eat meals to go,” Slattery said of his wife.
Recent entrees have included marinara meatballs, shrimp linguini, chicken stew and biscuits, and Cajun chicken pasta. You’ll also find a variety of soups, salads and dips to go.
New recipes will roll out each Thursday, “and they’re good for a week on our shelf and independently in your freezer once you go home,” Slattery said. “They make an easy lunch and work really well if you’re looking for something quick to feed the family.”
Augustana fan service
No matter how you choose to cheer on the Augustana Vikings this fall, chances are JJ’s will be there.
In addition to the popular beer garden during football games, JJ’s has added beverage service under the main grandstand, “which has gone over really well at recent games,” Slattery said.
JJ’s also is expanding service to the Elmen Center and will offer beverages during volleyball and women’s basketball, along with soccer at Morstad Field.
And, of course, JJ’s has returned to provide beverage services throughout the Midco Arena for hockey season, including in the JJ’s Viking Club.
Plus, head to the JJ’s Bar after any Augustana sporting event and get the “Augie Advantage Discount!” That’s 10 percent off your entire ticket – just show your ticket stub or wear your Augie apparel, and let the team know.
In the bar
Back at the JJ’s Bar, the team is working on menu changes, including bringing back the popular hot beef sandwich and other fall and winter seasonal items.
And, don’t miss two daily happy hours: Lunch happy hour runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and includes 20 percent off all sandwiches, entrees and salads.
Then, the afternoon happy hour is from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and all day Sunday. Special include $2 off wines by the glass, draft beers and signature and seasonal cocktails. Plus, take $3 off all shareable appetizers, including the famous JJ’s brisket nachos. And on weekends, find $6 mimosas and bloody marys, and $8 Old Forester and old-fashioned drinks.
Football viewing
While you can always catch a game in the JJ’s Bar, JJ’s Axes & Ales provides another perfect venue for college and NFL games. Throw axes while you watch, or hang out in Loki’s Tavern, which is attached to Axes & Ales and offers a menu of retro beers, craft beers, seltzers and wine, and a sizable game area.
Find them both at 3016 W. 57th St. in a retail center across from JJ’s Wine, Spirits & Cigars.
Corporate events
It’s definitely not too soon to be thinking about your annual corporate meeting or party.
“Now is the time we gear up for fall and winter events,” Slattery said. “If you’re planning an event for clients or employees, now is the time to get JJ’s booked to service your event. Whether you’re coming to us in our event spaces or we’re coming to your house, office or venue, it’s a turnkey operation for all things adult beverage.”
Birthday month
Here’s one more reason to love October: It’s birthday month at JJ’s.
“Be on the lookout for special sales on your favorite items all month long,” Slattery said.
