By popular demand: Some creepy clowns will be haunting the tunnel at Silverstar Car Wash starting this week.

The sixth annual haunted tunnel event will be Oct. 25-26 and Oct. 28-30 at the 4916 S. Marion Road location.

“We decided on a circus theme based on previous years’ feedback,” said Andrea Vetos, director of operations.

“Attendees are always terrified by the clowns, so we decided to really lean into that with our theme this year!”

The spooky circus theme will feature costumed team members entertaining drivers both in line for the car wash and inside the tunnel.

“We enjoy the team-building aspect, like being able to spend time with members of the team from different sites or roles while preparing for the event,” Vetos said.

“It’s also fun for our team to show off skills that they may not use in their normal day-to-day role — it’s so fun to find out someone is a talented artist, or has some woodworking skills, or is great at helping coordinate the chaos of event prep.”

This year brings “some great set pieces I think people will really enjoy,” Vetos said. “Additionally, everyone who attends the Haunted Car Wash will get our best wash, the MAX wash, which comes with Graphene, so it’s a great time to get a little extra protective coat on your vehicle going into the fall and winter.”

The haunted tunnel is open from 7 to 10 p.m. each night. It’s $25 per car for Unlimited Wash Members and $30 per car for nonmembers.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Feeding South Dakota. Canned food donations are welcome.

“Most of all, I think we all really enjoy the ability to give back to Feeding South Dakota through this event,” Vetos said.

“We recently did some math and discovered that through the Haunted Car Wash, we’ve been able to provide over 50,000 meals to those in need over the past five years.”
