Restaurant Roundup: New lunch spot, bakery soft opening, Bing cheesecake

Looking for a new lunch spot on the south edge of Sioux Falls? Lucky’s on Louise opens daily at 11 a.m. instead of 4 p.m. Here’s a look at the revamped menu.

The soon-to-open North End Bakery & Deli in the Jones421 Building will feature a limited menu Sunday so customers can sample some of owner Conner McMahan’s offerings. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. or earlier if everything sells out. The grand opening is scheduled for May 22.

New bakery, deli coming to downtown

The cheesecake flavor of the month at Sioux Falls Chef is a favorite: Bing. Regular and gluten-free slices are available on the shelf. Customers can order online to ensure availability.

MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub has several new menu items and an exclusive craft beer from Remedy Brewing Co. New pizzas include Chicken Tikka Za and the Big Sky Mack, which is a spin on a Big Mac. There’s a pineapple chutney flatbread, Korean BBQ Salmon Bowl and Steak Frites. Remedy’s Hucklebeer is an American wheat beer fermented with huckleberry.

Dave & Buster’s new menu has almost two dozen food additions and a half-dozen new drinks. There are new sampler boards, barbacoa on fries, a Southwest salmon bowl, Cajun shrimp pasta and more. Check out the menu here.

Let It Fly has a new $12 Top Draft Picks menu. The items come with a nonalcoholic beverage and are available from noon to 3 p.m. weekdays.

May is National Beef Month and Minervas is donating $1 from the purchase of featured beef entrees all month to Feeding South Dakota to help buy protein for those in need. Lunch offerings are the Half Club & Soup and the Dakota Dip. Both sandwiches featured pulled roast that has been cooked overnight. Dinner features are pot roast and Southwest mac-and-cheese with smoked pulled roast. All meat comes from Hadrick Ranch in Faulkton.

Chicken parm, or pollo alla parmigiana as Maribella Ristorante refers to it, is the featured entree for May at the Italian restaurant. Other features are Pizza Mortadella and Torta di Cioccolata, a chocolate torte.

R Wine Bar & Kitchen’s features for the month are pesto cream ravioli and raspberry swirl cheesecake.

Bruschetta chicken features are back through May as spring specials at Blarney Stone Pub. There’s a sandwich, wrap and salad. Also on the limited-time menu is the Luau Burger, a patty topped with melted mozzarella cheese, grilled ham, pineapple and Asian sauce. New Sweet & Furious Wings have flavors of lime, coconut, cilantro, pineapple, ginger, garlic, cumin and habanero.

Polar Bites has added daily meal deals for its downtown location.

If you’ve been missing Chef Omar Thornton’s gumbo from his days when he owned ‘O’ So Good Restaurant in Garretson, he’ll be demonstrating how to make it and offering samples and bowls for sale. He’ll be at Cooks & Bakers Kitchen from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. Pre-orders of larger portions are available through 6 p.m. Friday. Click here to get those details. For Mother’s Day, the store at Dawley Farm Village is offering 20 percent off storewide with some exclusions Saturday.

Stensland Family Farms and Bricks & Minifigs are teaming up for a contest Saturday. Bricks & Ice Cream will involve two-person teams building an ice cream cart out of Legos. The $30 fee for the team includes bricks and two dips of ice cream. It runs from 3 to 5 p.m. at the central store, 3101 W. 41st St. Limited spots are available, so pre-register here.

The featured burger of the month at Wileys is the Cali Burger. It’s two smash patties seasoned with ancho chili rub, topped with peppered bacon strips, pepper jack cheese, guacamole, shredded romaine and sliced tomatoes. With each purchase, Wileys will donate $1 to Southeastern Behavioral Health Care.

The featured pizza of the month at Invictus Pizza Kitchen is The Bacon Cheeseburger. It has garlic aioli, cheddar cheese, ground beef, chopped bacon, red onion and diced pickle with a drizzle of mustard.

The new multicourse menus for the month at Harvester Kitchen by Bryan are called May Flowers. Choose from chef’s or plant-based options. See the menus here.

Once upon a time, Breadsmith used its bread truck to do pop-ups in other towns. Now, it is partnering with Lewis Drug in Madison, Brookings and Huron to sell bread. Daily selections will vary.

Chili’s Grill & Bar is offering Tito’s Watermelon Spritz for $6 this month.

Crawford’s Bar & Grill has a new featured cocktail menu for spring.

Kaladi’s Bistro, which announced the evening of April 25 that it was going out of business after lunch the following day, is reaching out to customers about gift cards. It posted this message on Facebook: “For inquires regarding gift cards, please message us on FB or email us at [email protected].”

Longtime central Sioux Falls restaurant to close

Changes in hours/service

  • Perch is having its final pop-up brunch Sunday at En Place Catering as it prepares to open in its new home.
  • Gibs Sports Bar opened May 2 with daily hours but has made an adjustment already. It’s closed on Mondays for the summer.
  • Big J’s Roadhouse has extended hours on Friday and Saturday nights for the summer. The restaurants in Harrisburg and Humboldt are open until 10 p.m.
  • Now that bowling season is over, Pinz in Dell Rapids is no longer serving breakfast on Saturdays. It opens at 11 a.m. for lunch and open bowling.
