The long-awaited Jacky’s Burrito Express has opened on 41st Street in the former Fuddruckers space.

Plans were announced in April 2023 for the fourth Sioux Falls location.

“When I see the place empty, I say, OK, that’s my opportunity for 41st because every time I think about it, I need this on 41st because it’s busy,” said owner Jacky Vanloh, who originally is from Guatemala and opened her first restaurant in the city in 2009.

The new location at 3101 W. 41st St. in the Park Place retail center serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Customers order at the counter and an employee brings the food to the table when it’s ready. Unlike Jacky’s on East 10th Street, there’s a condiment bar where customers can pick up garnishes like sour cream and pico de gallo.

The restaurant is starting with a limited menu and will be adding more offerings, including an authentic Guatemalan dish. Vanloh’s seasoned roast chicken will come with charro beans, Guatemalan fried rice, fried yuca and fresh veggies.

Her restaurants feature housemade corn tortillas, and for the 41st Street location, she’s planning to add flour tortillas made on-site.

The menu includes favorites like the signature wet burrito, pollo en crema, shrimp burrito and chicken enchiladas.

There are pupusas, birria tacos and desserts.

Kids have their own menu too.

For breakfast, there are several choices, including a burrito with scrambled eggs, veggies and a choice of ham, chorizo or steak and dishes like huevos rancheros, chilaquiles and omelettes. Huevos Divorciados has a story back in Guatemala, Vanloh said. The over-easy eggs are topped with red and green sauce. The red is sweet like the women, and the green is sour like the men, she said, laughing.

The restaurant serves fill-your-own Pepsi products, along with beer, wine and malt-based margaritas. Vanloh plans to add juice and hot chocolate.

The large dining room seats 125 at tables and booths, and there’s even room for a few arcade games.

To start, hours are 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Customers also can order online.

Now that the restaurant on 41st Street is open, Vanloh said she eventually plans to close the location in the food court of The Empire Mall, likely in September. That opened in 2021.
