Whether you’re in the market for a new Cadillac or in for servicing, guests at Luxury Auto Mall soon will find an entirely elevated experience.
An expansion and renovation is underway at the dealership.
“We’ve been a Cadillac dealer since 2002, and this was the right time and opportunity for us to support the growing business,” said Mike Chaplin, president and co-owner of Luxury Auto Mall.
“It was voluntary on our end, not something our corporate entity said needed to be updated, but we were bursting at the seams both from a service standpoint and because there are so many Cadillacs in the marketplace. Sioux Falls has been great and has grown so much we wanted to support that with an even stronger customer experience.”
From the inside and out, “everything will change 100 percent,” he continued. “Walk into the Cadillac show floor today and it’s empty because everything is getting remodeled.”
The exterior will see a big face-lift with a new sleek and modern look, plus the addition will bring the building a little closer to the street for greater visibility.
The show floor will grow to 10,000 square feet, allowing Cadillac to display its growing lineup of vehicles, including electric models.
Renderings give a sense for how the new dealership will look.
“It’s going to be really nice to have vehicles on display,” Cadillac brand manager Aaron Boerema said. “Previously because of space constraints, a lot of vehicles on the show floor were already sold and there to be delivered, so now you can come inside no matter the weather, and we’ll have cars open and you can hop in, and we can talk about them.”
While recent years brought “giant demand,” current availability has improved, he said.
“We’re finally getting to a point where people are more easily able to get the cars they want,” Boerema said. “What used to take six months, which is crazy, now is down to a 60-day turn once we place an order with Cadillac, so the pipeline has really opened up, and we’re able to get most trims and equipment people want, so we’re really happy about that.”
Inventory at the dealership has improved considerably, he added.
“Within Escalade, we’re sitting really well, and we’ve got a good selection of the XT5, which is the mainstay vehicle, a good midsize SUV, as well as the XT6, which is a third-row midsize, and they’re going to stop production of those, so we’ve got a couple left, and when we get through those, we can’t get them again,” Boerema said.
“On the sedans, we have a great selection of the CT5 and the CT5-V, which is a sporty car with a little bigger engine that’s really fun to drive and offers some colors you don’t normally see.”
In electric vehicles, “we have a great selection,” he continued. “There’s a lot of options, from luxury midsize SUV Lyriq to a large, three-row, electric SUV Vistiq. People who have not owned Cadillac are looking at it because of what they have in the electric area.”
The brand has a history of being a leader in technology, he added.
“It’s instilled in Cadillac that they want to be a leader and be forward-thinking,” Boerema said. “We’re seeing more super-cruise, for example, which in essence allows hands-free steering on major highways and interstates. It’s fun to see people experience it for the first time.”
The service end of the dealership is being reconstructed to turn the entrance to the west and double it in width.
“You’ll see it as soon as you drive in the lot as you do with Mercedes and BMW,” Chaplin said. “You’ll also easily connect to a service adviser and be able to enjoy a brand-new lounge with a fun, relaxing atmosphere, plus easily browse vehicles while you’re here for servicing.”
The expanded servicing space will allow Cadillac to fit twice as many vehicles, he added.
The entire renovation is scheduled to open sometime in April.
In the meantime, the dealership is up and running and ready to serve customers.
“We’re anywhere and everywhere we can be,” Boerema said. “We’ve moved around, but the cars on the lot are all grouped together, and our sales team are all on-site. We’re continuing to work with customers and make sure we’re delivering a good experience. Customers are very happy as they learn how much wait times and constraints have improved, and we’re looking forward to serving them from the expanded and improved space.”
