Upcoming fundraisers to benefit storm victims

Oct. 25, 2019

September’s tornadoes might be a memory for most, but others are still trying to recover. Some upcoming events will provide more ways to help.

Ellie Stone Bride will hold a haunted runway show from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Icon Event Hall + Lounge.

“This will be a runway show unlike anything you have seen,” the business said in its promotion of the event.

Chef Jeni & Company and Cakes & Confections by Chef April will provide appetizers and desserts. Models will be outfitted in spooky hair and makeup with a light show and music.

Tickets are $10, which includes the chance to win a wedding dress. All proceeds will be donated to the disaster relief fund for tornado victims. Click here for tickets.

The following week, a concert called Band Together 605 will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Nov. 3 at The District. Tickets are $20.

The bands performing are Too Drunk to Fish, Whiskey Rich, V The Noble One & The Knights Tempo, Denham and Soleil.

“I want to help, and Sioux Falls is my home … I love this community,” said Katie Mouw, who is helping organize the event.

She said there are more than 90 families who currently qualify for assistance, according to the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation.

“They are in need of monetary assistance with displacement, deductibles, cleanup or tree removal costs,” she said. “All the money raised will be donated to the disaster fund.”

The event, open to those 18 and older, is supported by The District, Roam Kitchen + Bar, Amy Stockberger Real Estate, Molten Auto, Advertising Arts and Alpha Electric, along with many matching sponsors, she said. There also will be raffles and a silent auction. Click here to learn more.

“I want to thank the bands who are also donating their talents to this cause, and all the volunteers that are making this dream a reality for me,” she said.
