The Meeting Nook opens with tea parties, bubble tea flights, event space

Aug. 9, 2023

A new venue in Dell Rapids has opened, offering meeting and event space plus a menu of tea-based beverages.

The Meeting Nook is at 412 E. Fourth St. and is owned by Desiree and Paul Osborne.

Their other business, Tea Soulution, also is incorporated here with a menu that includes bubble teas and tea flights.

“We wanted to have a home for our herbal teas, then we decided to add on the bubble teas and the specialty drinks,” Desiree Osborne said. “We want to give a little bit of everything to the community.”

“We wanted a space for people to come and meet and have fun,” Osborne said. “We will have some super-awesome events, Bible studies and networking opportunities.”

Already in the first month, The Meeting Nook has hosted a fundraising event for a local pastor and a cookie decorating class.

“We’ve been having so much fun. The community is very supportive, and the business owners have even been stopping by to help us promote,” Osborne said.

The space is available for people to rent for events, and the Osbornes have about 15 events booked so far. The hope is for community input to help drive what’s offered.

A few upcoming events include:

  • Ultimate game night.
  • Wedding dress tea party.
  • Open mic night.
  • Recurring business networking event.
  • Football watch party.
  • Herbal remedy class.
  • Euchre tournament.

Some events are free, while others could have a small fee.

So far, the raspberry kiwi bubble tea has been the best-selling item, Osborne said. Additionally, the bubble tea menu now includes chocolate-covered strawberry and caramel apple flavors. On the hot and iced tea menus, customers can enjoy peach and cinnamon apple teas.

“We just experiment with flavors. We haven’t been to a traditional bubble tea shop, so we just have fun mixing,” Osborne said.

At The Meeting Nook, customers can purchase organic medicinal teas from Tea Soulution. The Osbornes blend the teas themselves and offer bags for sale online and in the store.

Hours might change depending on events but for now are noon to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
